Have "discovered" Jille Bolte's incredible story of her "stroke of insight". Watching her being interviewed by Oprah it's a familiar set of revelations as often come up, the main being..."there is always a choice about what you focus your attention on".

The Time Magazine article The Mystery of Consciousness surprised me. Many of the 'recent discoveries' described in the article on the understanding of human consciousness have been known by Buddhists for many centuries. Most psychologists and neurologists tend to rely on MRI scans and EEG readings and experiments with patients (especially those with unusual mental conditions) when investigating the behaviour of the human mind. While these are obviously a very important part of the study, how often do they refer to Buddhist meditation practice? How many have actually sat down and investigated and researched there own minds with the same enthusiasm and curiosity they have with their subjects?

Zen Quotes

If you understand, things are just as they are; if
you do not understand, things are just as they
are.
-Zen proverb

When you stop comparing what is right here and now with what you wish were, you can begin to enjoy what is.

The quality of your life is determined by the focus of your attention.
-Cheri Huber

As soon as we let go of the notion that there is a possibility of a life other than the one that is, we move away from suffering into a deeper level of peace and acceptance. There isn't some other reality that would be a better chance for you to accept yourself than this one. This is it. Pay attention.
